Expatriate American Writer Quickly
Gaining Respect as an Author
“Amazon.co.uk Customer Review gives the
maximum ‘Five Star’ recommendation on
Gary Dale Cearley’s first book, labels
Cearley’s work as ‘Cutting Edge.’”
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam (PRWEB)
September 5, 2006 -- As a first time
published author, Gary Dale Cearley, did
not expect the attention that he is
getting right now.
“I have had people who I haven’t seen in
years contacting me out of the blue,”
said Cearley, Vietnam’s best known
expatriate author, “I didn’t expect to
have the attention that I am getting
from this book, mainly because I didn’t
realize it would be interesting to a
broad range of people. Apparently it is.
I just keep scratching my head over it.”
Gary Dale Cearley’s recently published
book, which is entitled “Thou Shalt Not
Bear False Witness: The Truth about the
Vatican and the Birth of Islam,” is
catching the attention of history buffs
and people who are generally interested
in religion as well, especially those
with an interest in the history of the
early Christian Church and of early
Islam. The book is a refutation of the
Vatican Islam Conspiracy which has been
promoted by Jack Chick for many years.
“I wrote this book because I didn’t
appreciate the continuing and persistent
lie that Jack Chick and Alberto Rivera
had spread,” said Cearley, “This bogus
story began taking a life of its own in
certain Evangelical communities and the
next thing you know, with the growth of
the internet, the story is sadly being
propagated by conspiracy theorists like
David Icke and neo-Nazi groups. The
whole thing is unhealthy.”
Gary Dale has been contacted already by
people who have already bought his book
in places as diverse and as far off as
Australia and New Zealand as well as
people who have ordered the book in
Indonesia, Singapore, Canada, Cambodia,
Belgium, Thailand and the United
Kingdom. Cearley has taken several
orders in Vietnam, where he lives full
time.
But for an author who is basically
self-published and started out without
any real marketing budget, who has a
very low publishing industry profile and
is someone who does not even live in the
United States anymore, his new book is
getting some notice in some very
interesting places.
One Amazon.co.uk reviewer in the United
Kingdom, Wilson M.N. Barnsworth-Smith,
had this to say about Cearley’s work:
“This represents (quite possibly) the
most cutting edge research in to the
Chick Conspiracy Theory to date. While
many in the UK may be unfamiliar with
the exploits of Jack Chick and his
religious tracts, he has been muck
raking for decades and has a string of
controversial claims to his name - the
most prominent being the theory that the
Catholic Church created Islam. After
reading this work in a matter of one
hour and sixteen minutes (because I
couldn't take my eyes off it) I asked
myself, `where has this Cearley chap
been hiding'? This is a ripping tale of
Chinese whispers and crackpot innuendo
from the lunatic fringe.”
At Amazon.ca, the Canadian version of
Amazon.com, the following customer
review was posted:
“This is what I was looking for."
“If you are unfamiliar with the Chick
Tract phenomenon then this book will be
an eye opener. Unfortunately not enough
has been revealed about the odd and
interesting religious oddball from south
of the border. Chick is somewhat of an
icon in the religious community in the
US and his long running claim that the
Muslim faith is a product of the Popish
church is taken up at last by the
contentious and controversial
G.D.Cearley. Cearley shines a spotlight
in to the darkened recess of an insipid
and maddening labyrinth of lies,
deception, half-truths, and innuendo. In
the past Arkansas was famous for giving
the United States disingenuous
politicians now Arkansas is going to be
known for giving the United States G.D.
Cearley. This work is, if nothing else,
seminal. I eagerly await the book
signing tour that is sure to zig zag
across Canada soon I ll be there to see
this guy with my own eyes”
This was written by a reviewer from
Prince Edward Island.
Not only are customers providing good
responses to the book’s release but also
other authors are also giving Gary Dale
Cearley a good review. Alfred J.
Garrotto had this to say about Cearley
and his book:
"In reading Gary Dale Cearley's “Thou
Shalt Not Bear False Witness: The Truth
about the Vatican and the Birth of Islam”,
I appreciate the author's meticulous
historical documentation and clarity of
insight into the 'way things were'
during the first seven centuries
following the Resurrection of Christ.
From my Roman Catholic point of view,
Cearley's defense of my religious
community is welcome, not just his for
refutation of Jack Chick's and Alberto
Rivera's assertions, but even more for
his passionate commitment to truth in a
world that fosters deceit and untruth at
all levels of society."
The book’s sales have also been doing
rather well in a short time, at least on
Barnes & Noble’s online book store. “I
was very surprised to notice that in the
past two days my Barnes & Noble ranking
has gone up by about 65,000 spots in the
ranking,” remarked Cearley, “I was very,
very happy to see that.”
“Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness: The
Truth about the Vatican and the Birth of
Islam” is available through the Amazon
group (Amazon.com, Amazon.co.uk, and
Amazon.ca), Barnes & Noble, Chapters,
and at local book stores. The book can
be requested by asking for the ISBN
